IT'S BRITNEY, BITCH: GIMME GIMME MORE?

So dead weak has descended upon us, GREAAAAAT. The week before finals, its basically "study until you're on the brinks of death" week. Coincidentally, it is also the most sun Berkeley has gotten in weeks...THIS HAS GOT TO BE SOME SORT OF A CONSPIRACY! It's like Berkeley is tempting us to give studying the middle finger and, instead, prance around memorial glade under the glorious sun and be HAPPY so we'll end up failing...well, you have NOT succeeded! HA! Not that I still won't fail but at least it'll be all my doing. I'm currently sitting in the dungeon (aka underground study lounge) trying to write a 10 page paper on the infamous...or rather really famous Britney Spears' meltdown of 2007...and I've actually gotten negative work done...literally, I just deleted everything (1 paragraph) that I've written. So instead of frolicking out in the sun, I've decided to blog my worries away! YEAH!
So the post title is the working title of my Britney paper, you dig? I dig! I wonder if I could actually keep it as it is...IT'S JUST SO FREAKIN' BRITALICIOUS! Yes, I went there, I added -LICIOUS, it's like I'm a 7th grader again, I SO WISH I WAS SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO WRITE THIS FREAKING PAPER. Rant over.
I'm no longer a baby bear once May 10th rolls around, it's definitely a bittersweet affair. It's true that I'm no longer the bottom of the totem pole, no longer the rut, but, in a way, I kind of loved being the little wittle baby in such a big school. It gave me a cushion for all the mistakes I've made in the past year. Now I no longer have that diaper, that protective sheet, I'm on my own and it's kind of a "make it or break it" moment. Let's see how year 2 goes shall we? Fingers crossed it's full of good friends, good classes, good memories, and good grades! HA! Okay, the last one may be pushing it but a girl can dream can't she?
So these pictures, these purty purty pictures are from the Work It, BARE Series by the ever so lovely, Brittany Curran who is also the Blog Editor of BARE blog and the other Work It, Berk series. This girl is SO talented folks, like SOOO talented! I don't know how she finds the time to update all her blogs, I only have one and I can never seem to squeeze it in, as sad as that sounds. I promise to work on it, especially over summer! I love making my little brobro my personal camera man, MUAHAHA! See you all once finals are over and I'm free as a bird! Well for like two weeks anyways and then summer classes start, THE PAIN NEVER ENDS!

SEA OF COTTON

Wow it's been a loooonnng time. I promise I didn't forget about you lovelies, quite the contrary. I actually feel guilty for not updating, like you guys are my BFFs and I'm keeping you out of the loop. But I'm not, I swear I'm not, I just haven't found the right words to string into sentences with the right punctuation at the end (shout out to hello goodbye!) I've been kind of in a rut; with both fashion and life. I'm soooo utterly confused as to where my life is headed right now. With my disinterest in my classes, I'm starting to question my major...yet again. Sighhhhh, give me a sign, please I beg of thee! SOMEONE, ANYONE, I N S P I R E M E, INSPIRE THE CRAP OUT OF ME!
On a more pleasant note, the weather has been ridiculously amazing. My favorite part of the day is my sun-soaked hazy dazy hour long lunch where I get to enjoy the sunlight and listen to my ipod while tuning out the world. It's lush, just lush. It's calming, peaceful and relaxing; just the pick me up I need after my stats lab, bleh!
Now onto a funny note, way back in December when I had my 20 minute orgasm at the Triple Ho Show with Enrique Iglesias, I was actually interviewed, more like ambushed, by a NYTimes Magazine journalist who's writing a piece on one of the performers, Miranda Cosgrove. Well, to sum it up, I sound like a complete and utter bitch. And not only that, but I sound like a complete and utter bitch that's incredibly obsessed with Enrique. Oy. Oh well, I only said the truth, if that makes me bitchy than call me Bitchy McBitchface then! If you're interested, you can read all about my manic rant HERE (or skip to page 5).
Look at me! I'm in a maxi! Crazy right? I look so incredible short in these shots, like I'm swimming in a sea of cotton, but I swear I look at least a couple millimeters taller in person! While the weather is heating up, the wind doesn't stop a-blowing here in Berkeley, ever. So I felt like this was a good way to balance it out (and because my jeans are judging my muffin top...which makes me want to eat muffins...I want muffin now). But, it's okay because I'd rather be in this weather than the Sahara Desert! HA! or the Antarctic!
Sorry to cut this short, we'll have a recap sess soon, pinky promise! Got to run off to finalize a couple details for BARE'S DIY EVENT + TRUNK SHOW that is happening this Friday! If you're from the bay, PLEASE stop by! It's going to be AMAZING! And I'll get to see all your pretty faces as well, what a double win!
Dig my messy messy ridiculously messy room? Yeah, neither do I. BUT, to give myself some credit, I did manage to clean my room AFTER I took these pictures. So HA, I'm not THAT bad...okay I am but taking 10 minutes to find my shower shoes at 7AM is NOT OKAY. NO.

CLOWNING AROUND

The weather is no longer beautiful. IT'S FREAKING COLD HURR, BRR! The last two days or so have been windy as craploids, I swear if I was carrying enough balloons (like a thousand) I'd totally fly away (Should've tried that, drats!) I miss the nice purty weather already, sigh, I guess it's starting to feel like REAL Berkeley weather (aww, pooey).
My lovely mood ran away with the sunshine which left me bummy and grumpy. Yesterday couldn't have gone worse; falling asleep in 2 out of 3 classes despite sleeping a full 5 hours the night before (that's a lot for me!), forgetting my BARE event's meeting location and waiting awkwardly for 10 whole minutes before running up the street to Cafe Strada, losing my dorm key on the way back to my dorm which costs $50 to replace (my closet is crying at the loss of a friend they never knew), my phone decides that it wants to be funny and black out whenever it wants, having 50+ pages of reading to do before 8AM today, and staying up until 4AM to only finish 1/4 of my reading . To sum it all up, it was a shit day. OH WELL, LIFE GOES ON.

Despite what the title may imply, I absolutely detest clowns. They're way more frightening than entertaining. But the mixture of plaid and POW red polka dots just screamed "BOZO THE CLOWN!" to me, in a tasteful way (right?) Wore this outfit for a day trip my floormates and I went on a while ago to do a little RRR at Emeryville. I did get a lot of stares that day...I honestly can't tell if it was a good or bad sign. I'll just assume it's because I looked like a modern clown, and clowns are pretty much like train wrecks; disturbing yet you just can't seem to look away.
It seems as if the question on every student's mind (or just Berkeley students) is whether or not to stay here over the summer. To take summer school or not, that is the question. I, myself, am in this dilemma and I wish I wasn't. Summer+school=ultimate fail. Oh gosh, I don't even know if I can handle it because I'm already a terrible student during the regular school year. I mean I'm currently sitting in my Children's Literature lecture and finishing up my blog post, oopsies! But it's okay because we're watching clips of different Peter Pan movies, sweet! Ahh, childhood how I've missed thee! Well, Peter Pan is kind of creepy to be honest. We were discussing the obvious sexual tension between Peter and Wendy in the most recent remake of the Peter Pan movie, UHHHHH....awkward much?!

SWEATERIN' IT

Fall has finally graced its presence on little Berkeley. Some kids here are freaking out over the "coldness" and such, but I'm fine, this is my favorite kind of weather. Slightly cold, slightly cloudy, slightly blissful; it all culminates into such a beautiful and incredible feeling. It makes me feel so alive. Better yet, it's sweater time, yay! 2 weeks and 1 day left until winter break; a month of freedom to do nothing, to do anything, to do everything. I'm so excited. I just need to get through a week of classes, RRR week (a free week to study for finals), and the deaded finals. UGH.

After some soul searching, I realize that I have absolutely no freaking idea what the hell I'm going to do once I graduate. I know it's normal for a freshman and all, or any college student, but I usually like to have some plan, a goal, an idea of some sort. So, I'm slightly, kinda, sorta FREAKING THE FUCK OUT! ASDFJKL;
Right now the sun is setting and it's turning the sky into swirls of pink and purple. It's purrtyy and it makes me want cotton candy. Damn stupid post-Thanksgiving guilt diet, you're killing me!

P.S. Meet Lawrence, the huge elephant my BB4LZ Laura got me as an early Christmas present! My floor already loves him a ridiculous amount, he even has a play date with Mr. Fou Fou (no joke!).

Also, I wanted to give a huge thank you with internet flowers and balloons to Kathleen over at Inspirafashion for giving me the "Stylish Blogger" Award. You're such a sweetheart, classmate!

So, following the rules of the award:
1. Thank the person who gave you this award- Thank you Kathleen! I appreciate it sooo much! You're too kind!

2. Tell 7 facts about yourself:
#1. I prefer night over day. I'm such a night owl, I rarely sleep before 3AM. I tend to do my best thinking around that time so I always study after midnight.
#2. I've seen A Walk to Remember over 40 times, I went a little crazy over one summer and I watched it every single day for a month. Yeah, I'm kind of obsessive at times.
#3. I prefer pancakes over waffles. It's fluffy like clouds! (Or so I'd imagine!)
#4. People tend to think I'm high maintenance because I like to dress up but I'm completely the opposite. I'm low maintenance, like low low low to the floo floo floo, yeah that low.
#5. I'm so scared of snakes. I've had nightmares about them to the point where I'll wake up in a sweat. Even snakes in books freak me the fuck out!
#6. I like elephants. A LOT. LIKE A LOT A LOT A LOT TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN.
#7. I'm in a teeny bopper music phase. I have no idea why, if someone can, get me out of it? PLEASE? Blasting Mandy Moore in a dorm room is slightly embarrassing right? NAH, I'm not embarrassed at all, I LOVE IT! But the rest of the floor...especially the guys...not so much.

3. Pay it forward to 7 bloggers you adore and contact them to let them know they've been chosen.

GREETINGS AUTUMN

Fall is a glorious season. I've said it once and I'll gladly say it again, "FALL IS BEAUTIFUL AND YUMMY AND DELICIOUS NOM NOM NOM!" Even though the weather begs me to get in bed and cuddle with my soft cushy blankets, I must stand strong and say, "NO CAN DO YOU RIDICULOUSLY COMFY BED YOU!" Why am I being such a beezy to my bed who-only-gives-and-never-takes you ask? Because I'm in college silly! And it's time to get down to business (TO DEFEAT THE HUNS! HUAA!) Homework, lectures, group projects, tests, midterms, ETC ETC ETC really pile up when you spend your time...not wisely. SO, it's here and it's biting my ass. PFFFTT. I'll never learn will I?

HAPPY HAPPY HIPPO

After a month of indulging in my self pity and regret, I've decided that I need an attitude check. No longer can I be the girl who regrets choosing Berkeley because "its too hard, I just can't do it" and now I'm going to be the one saying "Berkeley, pshhh, it ain't got shizzz on me. I own that school!" Yup. Word for word, foo! I mean, why waste time feeling sorry for yourself when you can use that time to be more productive and enjoy the next four years, the so called "last four years for you to get your shit together." I want to make it count; to make memories that'll make me laugh again when I'm 80 years old and looking back on my golden (and blue) years. So I've decided that, for the next week, I'm only going to think positive things. Ta taaa Negative Nancy, you've been my frenemy for far too long! I'm going to be an upbeat, glass half full kind of gal from here on out! Astronomy midterm in 13 hours, NO BIG DEAL! Even though I haven't studied or even looked at the book because I was at the Maroon 5/OneRepublic, Ry Cummings concert (which I'm definitely posting on later), oh well, there's simply no time like the present! Time to get to work!

EDIT//++(5:38AM)
Studying for my astronomy midterm at 5AM (and only 8 more hours until the midterm) with no complaints! To go along with my recent self improvement wants, I've decided that my shopping addiction stops right here. Cold turkey. No more shoes, shirts, skirts, dresses, bags, socks, pants, robes, NOTHING. I'm not allowed to purchase any form of clothing (minus items for my halloween costume and things I see that are dirt cheap) from now until the end of the month. This shopping addiction is really taking a toll on my bank account and that is just not okiedokie anymore. End rant, back to reading about black body radiation and the atmosphere of Mars! toodaaaalooo mothaaafuckaaaasss!

Since this is such a text heavy post, here's a little something something to feast your eyes upon! This is my home, my casa, my town for the next four (hopefully not five or six) years. It's definitely growing on me and I'm starting to realize the complex beauty that is Berkeley. I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else (no matter how much I say I can).

PURRR

I HAD A LAUNDRY FIASCO. I cannot do my own laundry to save my life. Two loads. One dark one colored/white. BAD MISTAKE THAT I WILL NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS EVER MAKE AGAIN. All my whites turned a pretty blushy pink and a good 1/3 of my dresses/longer shirts shrunk. Not only did they shrink but they shrunk a good 3, 4, 5 inches. THEY SHRUNK LIKE A SHRINK-A-DINK! Remember those? Gosh those were fun! Anyways, my newly acquired oversized leopard shirt was about 3 inches above my knees...not anymore! It's like a shirt now...oh well, I'll learn to survive.

Shrunken or not, I still love this shirt. It makes me feel...FIERCE. I just want to purr like a cheetah all day. Too bad I'd get so many weird awkward looks...or maybe not, it is Berkeley after all.

I cannot express just how EXCITED I am for the weekends in October. Why you ask? I'm finally going to be reunited with the loves of my life! I'm so extremely over the moons excited I want to jump out my windows and FLY! Too bad I would die hence why the windows are closed today. I'm not even going to tempt myself with such a dream.

EDITT??++ (5:41PM)
It was a little chilly when Julie and I went on a little shopping date, so I threw on a turquoise cardigan from f21.

First we hit up Zebras:

I had a lovely convo with this adorable girl who works there and bought this little beautiful seamless hoop. It was such a pain to get in, but totally and utterly worth it! I feel so badass with it, yeee!

And then we went to sway and buffalos exchange.
Got some cool stuff to show you guys next time!

Time to go enjoy a "free" concert from Jack Johnson, oh the lives of poor college kids!
