MESSED UP MONDAY

I'm completely out of interesting/relevant titles, so I've resorted to the "college days of the week." ENJOY! I definitely do not indulge in what these titles insinuate. I mean, Messed Up Monday, really? I don't think so! I barely want to leave my bed on Mondays much less party in any way. I guess Messed Up Monday can refer to the fact that it's messed up that we have to be in class on this gorgeous Monday. It's such a shame. I can think of nothing better to do on such a day then passing out in my bed for a couple hours before heading over to main stacks for a round of essay writing and lecture catching up. GREAT!

Denim on denim: How much is too much? What do you guys think?
I don't know why but I kind of dug this look. It's different (even though it's the same fabric, HAHA HAHA!). Usually I'm completely and utterly against it. But now, I think it can also be totally chic. The deciding factor really depends on how you carry yourself. If you believe you look amazingly beautiful in something, it totally shows. And choosing the right two kinds of denim really helps.
My take:
denim on denim
denim boys top: crossroads ($6.50)
belt: urban outfitters ($10)
denim shorts: buffalo's exchange ($7.50)
trouser socks: dollar store ($1)

Today's actual outfit (the denim on denim was just an experiment):
Just something simple, easy and cool (temperature wise) because I only went to one class, which is all the way up in the dreaded dreary Evans.

(Sorry for the crappy body shot, I was in a hurry)

SANDCASTLE IN THE SAND-ROBIN SPARKLES

A week in photos (and some stranglers that didn't make past posts):

This week felt like a blur. I felt like I didn't do much-I didn't. I felt like I don't remember much-I don't. Regardless, it was nice. It was a week of too much: too much food, too much free time, too much ditching, too much sleeping, too much partying, too much falling, too much Modern Family, too much complaining, too much sunlight, too much of not doing work. Oh the consequences of being young. And naive. And bored. And procrastinating.

P.S. Another new layout. Simpler. Classier. Prettier. Inputs?

BLOGGERSTRUCK

Liz from Late Afternoon, Laura from Shop It To Me, Yvan Rodic from Face Hunter

Last night, FAST and BARE at CAL hosted a fashion/blogger forum with 3 very prominent bloggers. Beforehand I met up with Samantha from fazed-girl and it was surreal! Even though I feel like we're friends, buddies, comrades via internet, it's so weird actually meeting them in person! Sam was super friendly, cute and down to Earth. Back to the forum, it was set up as a huge session of Q&A and it was so amazing! I've been following Liz for awhile and finally seeing her in person was so overwhelming! She's even more beautiful in person (how is that even possible right?!) and tall! Oh boy is she tall! Ahh, I was so starstruck, I couldn't stop staring at her! Yvan Rodic was super well spoken (okay, I just thought his accent was beyond amazing) and silly. Laura was pretty quiet because the questions were aimed towards bloggers but she was extremely pretty and well dressed. Well, pretty much everyone was extremely well dressed and poised. It was intimidating how gorgeous everyone was, my heart was swooning at the shoegasm I was having throughout the WHOLE EVENT. Overall, I found the event to be very informative and helpful and all things pretty!

A new layout. A simple banner because the spoons and forks made me hungry every time I looked at it!

SLIM'S

A little review of the TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB concert at the legendary Slim's.

Funeral Party:
I was in for a surprise. I tend to disregard opening acts because, come on, who really cares about them right?! It’s all about the main act; the opening acts usually make us all antsy and eager for the REAL act to finally emerge, no one really gives a thought about them. Well, this band truly surprised me. Not only did it make me shake shake shake but it made me nod, bop, and move everything I’ve got! They’re so full of rock-and-roll energy; it was excruciatingly addicting and infective. Even though I’ve never heard of them, much less know any lyrics, I was super into their beat and sound (I even tried to sing along, shhh!) It totally didn’t hurt that one of their guitarist (curly brown hair, stashe, v-neck, skinny jeans, socks/no shoes, ugh can you say yummy?!) was totally and utterly cute. On top of that, he hella rocked his guitar. Oh yea, you heard me, I said HELLLLAAA, he was just THAT good. To top it all off, he had the sexy-eyes-closed-because-I’m-so-into-my-music-I’m-in-my-own-little-world-and-nothing-else-fucking-matters-look on his face and it was SOOOOOOO sexy, AH! I DIE! LOVED THEM!

The Generationals:
After Funeral Party I was pumped and ridiculously ready for anything! The Generationals gave off a different vibe; a bit less of the rock-and-roll vibe and a little more indie pop. Hailing from New Orleans, this group’s is oober hipster to say the least. The bassist, who is SOSOSOCUTE by the way, was wearing a plaid button up, plaid boxers, cuffed jeans, and boat shoes without socks. I could NOT stop staring at him, he was THAT delicious looking, not to mention totally nice/funny/seemed genuine as he complimented how much he loved SF (bonus points!) Loved their poppy sound, it was infatuating. The bassist/guitarist (yes, he can play both!) would bop up and down as he played and it was soo cute! The girl drummer was so intense, something you don’t necessarily expect, and it was amazing! Instead of drinking beer like the guys, she had Starbucks. I don’t know why I was so intrigued by that but it totally stuck out to me. Her energy was a mixture of badass and sweet; I totally dug it. Overall, great band, great sound, awesome music. I’ll gladly see them again!

Two Door Cinema Club:
Now for the finale, the main act, the big shrimp (Drake and Josh reference anyone?): Two Door Cinema Club! They were down right AMAZING! They sounded so good live and everyone was just SO ready for them. Peaceful, no shoving or annoying “HAVE MY BABIES PLEASE! I WANT TO SEX YOU” from fan girls, it was an awesome experience just loosing yourself to their beat/lyrics. They literally brain fucked me, literally. It was epic. They were all so adorable with their little Irish accents and all. They totally looked like posh preppy boys in their oxfords and button ups and jamming out their electro indie pop, ahh it made them that much more attractive. What more can I say? They exceed all of my expectations and more, I enjoyed every single second of their 58 minute set. When the concert ended I was in such a euphoric state that I didn’t even attempt/want to leave. The energy they left us was a million times more than anything I’ve ever felt in a concert; this was easily one of the top 3 concerts I’ve ever attended. So worth the $21 ticket.

MEET FINLEY NORTON HASTINGS

I really must stop sleeping when the sun rises, it's becoming such a terrible habit! Astronomy midterm #2 is dunzo, YAY! It only took 8 1/2 hours of "studying", 2 coffees, 1 bowl of delicious curry, 2 hours of procrastination, a bear market run and more random chit chat for me to get any sort of substantial cramming in and I still left the midterm feeling like "EHHHBLEHH*(%&@%*(@&WHATEVER!!!" Thank goodness it's over and I refuse to look at the results anytime soon because it's finally THE WEEKEND! YESSS! Since I was feeling destined to fail, I decided to at least look a bit better than my bummy mood. I look studious, yeaa?

SO SOFT. SO PINK. SO LOVELY. I LIKIE.

I love this lacy crochety looking top. It's so simple and versatile, yet it adds a little OOMPH! to my outfits. And for $7, it was nothing but a WIN!
I can't help myself. I LOVE THESE GLASSES! I actually feel more studious with them on. Werid huh? My real glasses feel so neglected like I'm ashamed of them or somethings cause I never ever wear them out to see the light of day. It's not like I don't like my serious glasses or anything...it's just....I mean....EH...fuck it. THESE ARE CUTER. THERE. I SAID IT.
These heels feel so Madmen to me. I feel super proper and ladylike in them,

lacy top: ross ($7)
blue cardigan: taiwan
grey jeggings: choice
vintage like heels: buffalos ($19)
brown belt: thrifted ($4)
pink slouchy hat: crossroads ($12)
fake hipster glasses: party store ($5)
paris necklace: gift

And some of you may be confused by the title, "Who in the hell is this Finley fellow with the super weird pretentious name?!" Well, since I am now a mature young adult (BWAHAHAHA NOT!) I decided to finally take the plunge. A combination of a graduation, a congratulation, and an 18th birthday present, I finally purchased the Nikon D5000 that I've been eyeing ever since I laid eyes on it over summer.

This is Finley Norton Hastings. Ain't he a beaut?! I'm so in love. Siggghh, I just keep staring at him and feeling him and touching him and gazing at him. I CAN'T BE STOPPED!
