SLIM'S

A little review of the TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB concert at the legendary Slim's.

Funeral Party:
I was in for a surprise. I tend to disregard opening acts because, come on, who really cares about them right?! It’s all about the main act; the opening acts usually make us all antsy and eager for the REAL act to finally emerge, no one really gives a thought about them. Well, this band truly surprised me. Not only did it make me shake shake shake but it made me nod, bop, and move everything I’ve got! They’re so full of rock-and-roll energy; it was excruciatingly addicting and infective. Even though I’ve never heard of them, much less know any lyrics, I was super into their beat and sound (I even tried to sing along, shhh!) It totally didn’t hurt that one of their guitarist (curly brown hair, stashe, v-neck, skinny jeans, socks/no shoes, ugh can you say yummy?!) was totally and utterly cute. On top of that, he hella rocked his guitar. Oh yea, you heard me, I said HELLLLAAA, he was just THAT good. To top it all off, he had the sexy-eyes-closed-because-I’m-so-into-my-music-I’m-in-my-own-little-world-and-nothing-else-fucking-matters-look on his face and it was SOOOOOOO sexy, AH! I DIE! LOVED THEM!

The Generationals:
After Funeral Party I was pumped and ridiculously ready for anything! The Generationals gave off a different vibe; a bit less of the rock-and-roll vibe and a little more indie pop. Hailing from New Orleans, this group’s is oober hipster to say the least. The bassist, who is SOSOSOCUTE by the way, was wearing a plaid button up, plaid boxers, cuffed jeans, and boat shoes without socks. I could NOT stop staring at him, he was THAT delicious looking, not to mention totally nice/funny/seemed genuine as he complimented how much he loved SF (bonus points!) Loved their poppy sound, it was infatuating. The bassist/guitarist (yes, he can play both!) would bop up and down as he played and it was soo cute! The girl drummer was so intense, something you don’t necessarily expect, and it was amazing! Instead of drinking beer like the guys, she had Starbucks. I don’t know why I was so intrigued by that but it totally stuck out to me. Her energy was a mixture of badass and sweet; I totally dug it. Overall, great band, great sound, awesome music. I’ll gladly see them again!

Two Door Cinema Club:
Now for the finale, the main act, the big shrimp (Drake and Josh reference anyone?): Two Door Cinema Club! They were down right AMAZING! They sounded so good live and everyone was just SO ready for them. Peaceful, no shoving or annoying “HAVE MY BABIES PLEASE! I WANT TO SEX YOU” from fan girls, it was an awesome experience just loosing yourself to their beat/lyrics. They literally brain fucked me, literally. It was epic. They were all so adorable with their little Irish accents and all. They totally looked like posh preppy boys in their oxfords and button ups and jamming out their electro indie pop, ahh it made them that much more attractive. What more can I say? They exceed all of my expectations and more, I enjoyed every single second of their 58 minute set. When the concert ended I was in such a euphoric state that I didn’t even attempt/want to leave. The energy they left us was a million times more than anything I’ve ever felt in a concert; this was easily one of the top 3 concerts I’ve ever attended. So worth the $21 ticket.
